Radio Frequency and Microwave Sensors for Industrial Applications

About the Project

Applications are invited to undertake research on radio frequency (RF) and microwave sensors for industrial applications at a PhD level. The project will involve the design, simulation and experimental investigation of innovative RF & microwave sensors suitable for real-time measurements and characterisation of materials in oil & gas, chemical and pharmaceutical processes. In addition to conventional approaches, AI-enabled data analysis techniques will be investigated and assessed for above applications. A test system will be established to demonstrate the capabilities of the sensors and innovative data analysis techniques.

Eligibility

The applicant should have at least a 2.1 honours degree or Master's degree in electrical and electronic engineering with the knowledge of RF & microwave engineering, and meet the academic requirements for enrolment for a doctorate at the University of Manchester.

The applicant will be enthusiastic and have a rigorous and disciplined approach to research. Good team-working and communication skills are essential.

Funding

This 3.5 year PhD is for self-funded students.
