Salary/Wage Range: $22.85 - $33.50 Hourly (Classified Salary Level 11)
Salary/Compensation Statement: Hourly wage reflects an approximate annual salary of $47,520 - $69,690. New employees may not be placed on the salary schedule higher than any current employee in this classification with the same or greater number of years' relevant experience and education. Working Schedule: As assigned by the Aviation Academy Director or, on the basis of the Director's delegated authority, by the Lead Aviation Mechanic. May include early morning, evening or weekend hours.

Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Experience: Two (2) years of documented full-time experience maintaining general aviation aircraft typical of those used for flight training, including Cessna 152s, Piper PA-28 series; and multi-engine piston. (Or, see equivalency statement below.) Requires FAA-level English proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking.
Licensure or Certification Requirements: FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certificates.
Preferred Education: Associate degree or higher.
Preferred Experience: Extensive experience working on Cessna 152s and Piper Warriors. FAA Inspection Authorization. Experience in maintaining training aircraft in a flight school environment. Experience working in a Part 141 or Part 135 operation.
Position Purpose: To assist in keeping the training fleet for Lane Aviation Academy's Aviation Professional Pilot program in a safe, airworthy condition.
Essential Functions: Assist with the following: Service, perform preventive maintenance and repairs in order to maintain the airworthiness of the fleet of training aircraft used by Flight Technology to train pilots. Maintain or replace of a wide variety of aircraft components and systems including airframe, powerplant, propellers, including complete raw data weight-and-balance measurements and calculations. Sign off work on aircraft as required by FAA regulations. Complete in-flight evaluations with a pilot or instructor following maintenance or repair work. Assure compliance with all FAA and other applicable regulations. Expedite maintenance and repairs to enhance aircraft availability while maintaining safety and maximizing reliability. Keep all records required for aircraft maintenance in a Part 141 training school; all records required by the FAA. Assures that aircraft maintenance and repairs status is kept updated on SkyScheduler or other manner as required by the Director. Assures aircraft in service have all required documents current and on board. Ensure that the aircraft are kept clean and protected from the elements as much as possible. Support the Dean of Aviation in decision-making on aircraft maintenance. Help educate and, sometimes, re-educate flight instructors and students regarding best practices in the use and care of our aircraft. Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of and Skill in: Maintaining the aircraft in our training fleet.
