All Ranks - Instructor/Assistant/Associate/Professor of Psychiatry at CUMC

The Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center seeks to fill multiple clinical faculty positions for child and adolescent psychiatrists at the Instructor and Assistant Professor level. For all positions, responsibilities will include a combination of providing direct patient care, including assessment and psychotherapy, and teaching and supervision of psychology and/or psychiatry trainees and medical students.

Clinical work will consist mostly of providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and treatments with children and adolescents in outpatient, emergency, or inpatient consultation settings. Psychiatrists in outpatient settings generally focus on 30-minute visits geared towards med management, but there are opportunities for combined therapy cases as well. The setting requires flexibility, consultative skills, and active collaboration with other providers and team members. Relevant experience includes providing diagnostic psychiatric evaluations and psychopharmacologic and short-term psychotherapeutic treatments for a wide range of psychiatric diagnoses. Working collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team with strong interpersonal and communication skills is important.

Candidates will have opportunities to attend case conferences, peer supervision, and Grand Rounds at CUIMC. Candidates will work closely with a clinical team, including other psychiatrists, as well as psychologists/clinical social workers and psychiatric nurse-practitioners. Opportunities may exist for clinical supervision and teaching.

Minimum Educational Requirements:

  • MD or DO from accredited institution
  • New York State License
  • Active DEA License
  • Completion of a child fellowship and board certification in child psychiatry (for graduating residents/fellows, Board certification within 6 months of start date is acceptable).
  • For MDs: appointment at the Instructor level requires graduation from a psychiatric residency program. Assistant Professor requires board certification in psychiatry and 2 years independent clinical experience post residency.

This role includes opportunities for additional compensation aligned with the department's comprehensive compensation plan.
