Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist with a passion for rural health, education, and innovation? James Cook University’s Central Queensland Centre for Rural and Remote Health (CQCRRH) is seeking a dynamic Clinical Lead to champion service-learning programs and workforce development in remote communities.
About the Role
As the Allied Health Clinical Lead (OT), you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering innovative, student-assisted allied health services across rural and remote Queensland. You’ll collaborate with community stakeholders, support novice practitioners and trainees, and contribute to building a confident, culturally responsive allied health workforce.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and support interprofessional service-learning programs for adults and children in high-priority areas.
- Mentor students, rural generalist trainees, and early-career professionals.
- Foster partnerships with local health services and community organisations.
- Contribute to research and evidence-based practice in rural health.
- Promote health careers and support JCU’s commitment to reconciliation and sustainability.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Recognised Occupational Therapy qualification and relevant postgraduate credentials.
- Senior experience in rural and Indigenous health contexts.
- Passion for innovative clinical education and interprofessional practice.
- Strong communication skills and cultural competency.
Desirable:
- Experience in service-learning models and rural health leadership.
- Project or program management experience.
- Willingness to pursue further education relevant to the role.
Special Requirements
- Current AHPRA registration (or equivalent)
- Driver’s license and willingness to travel remotely
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours when needed
