Analytical-Chemical Analyst Organic Geochemistry and Stable Isotopes GeoLab
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated analytical-chemical analyst for the Organic Geochemistry and Stable Isotopes labs at GeoLab. This role involves generating results that contribute to various research projects for students and scientists in the Faculty of Geosciences and beyond.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the proper functioning of equipment such as GC and LC with various detections (including FID, MS, and IRMS), and EA-IRMS.
- Perform daily maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment.
- Conduct quality control of measurements.
- Guide and advise students and scientists on research methods and sample preparation.
- Train new users on analysis equipment and assist with sample pretreatment.
- Participate in company emergency response (BHV) if qualified or willing to become certified.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Hold an HBO or WO analytical-chemical education or equivalent relevant experience.
- Demonstrate technical insight and logical thinking for troubleshooting equipment.
- Be proficient in Excel and able to work carefully, orderly, and independently.
- Possess excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English to interact with scientists, students, and external clients.
- Be willing to maintain knowledge through seminars and courses.
- Be flexible, motivated, and able to thrive in a dynamic environment with varying research questions.
What the Employer Offers
- A 12-month contract with the possibility of indefinite employment.
- A workweek of 36 to 40 hours with a gross monthly salary ranging from €3,382 to €4,484 (scale 8 of the Dutch Universities Collective Labour Agreement), potentially starting at scale 7 if experience is limited.
- 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
