Appalachian Studies Center Student Assistant - Federal Work Study
Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a federal work study student in the College of Education department on the Dahlonega campus. Assist faculty and staff with the programs that run at the Appalachian Studies Center at the Vickery House, such as Hometown Harvest, a gardening initiative, creating historical and educational signage about the house and our initiatives, and promoting and hosting community and campus engagement events.
Responsibilities
Students will help with project initiatives, including but not limited to:
- Creating digital and print signage,
- Researching history of the house, community, or UNG,
- Hosting events at the Vickery House,
- Planting and maintaining our gardens,
- Giving tours of our property to guests,
- Helping facilitate field trips from local schools,
- Helping set up exhibits and workshops for the community and UNG.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Students should have good communication skills,
- Adequate understanding of technology,
- A good attitude,
- Willingness to learn and help where and when needed.
Required Qualifications
Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
