The Application Developer II is responsible for the ongoing support and development of applications supported by the University. This position requires technical versatility and creativity to deliver solutions that serve the University community. The Application Developer II will leverage strong programming abilities and excellent communication skills to improve university processes and contribute ideas, solutions, and energy to a high-performing, motivated team. This position requires occasional evening and weekend hours.
Responsibilities:
- Perform support and maintenance of the university portal and web environments including database management, system enhancements, upgrades, reporting, and training.
- Develop integrations to enterprise and external systems via APIs and custom solutions using RESTful APIs (JSON), ASP.NET and C#.
- Develop programming interactions with JavaScript, JQuery.
- Understand key client-side web development concepts (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- Partner with business analysts to evaluate customer business processes, assess needs, identify key challenges, and define user requirements, project scope, and deliverables.
- Design, code, implement, and maintain procedural systems to ensure effective and efficient use and delivery of services and information between enterprise systems.
- Create and maintain system, process, and end-user documentation.
- Provide back-up development and support for external web site.
- Assist with the support of development systems.
- Support all integration aspects of enterprise technology applications.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required; Major in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Software Engineering preferred.
- Five (5) to eight (8) years of experience developing web applications required; ASP.NET/Blazor Server/C# desired.
- One to three years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server required.
- Experience in analyzing business and user requirements and/or project management desired.
Technical Skills:
- Solid technical background in designing, developing and integrating web technologies/applications using ASP.NET/C#.
- Strong analytical skills, programming skills, SQL, and relational database knowledge.
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Design and Programming.
- Solid understanding of web application development processes, from the layout/user interface to relational database structures.
- Proficiency with one or more of the following languages: MSSQL/SQL, GraphQL, HTML, ASP.NET, C#, JavaScript, JQuery, XML, JSON.
- Experience with version controls tools such as GitHub,etc.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly acquire new technical skills.
Human Relations Skills:
- Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, ability, socio-economic background, or job type.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple assignments/projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
