- $111,643 to $121,045 (HEW Level 7) plus 17% employer’s superannuation contribution and annual leave loading

About the Role
The Applications Specialist (HR) will be responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and support of Workday, helping to ensure the system runs smoothly and accurately. The role includes troubleshooting issues, including those related to integrations with other business systems and HR Functions. You will provide subject matter expertise to support system stability, data integrity, and ongoing improvements across HR and payroll-related projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with HR, Payroll and IT stakeholders to identify and implement system improvements, automation opportunities and process efficiencies
- Configure, maintain and enhance Workday business processes across multiple HR modules
- Assist with troubleshooting configuration and integration issues between Workday and systems such as Ascender Pay and Kronos
- Provide subject matter expertise to ensure alignment of Workday and related applications with business requirements and University policies
- Contribute to the configuration and limited support of Kronos where required, particularly for time and attendance and integration with Workday and Ascender
- Manage and resolve incidents, requests and change activities within IT service management processes
- Maintain technical and functional documentation for Workday, Ascender and integrations
- Participate in release testing, change management and production deployments
- Provide guidance and knowledge sharing to colleagues to build capability across the Application Services team
About You
You are an experienced IT professional with expertise in configuring, supporting and optimising Workday across multiple HR modules. You understand how Workday connects with HR and payroll systems and are comfortable troubleshooting integrations, data flows and business process issues, including those involving payroll platforms such as Ascender Pay. You are also familiar with Kronos or similar workforce management systems and have a solid grasp of time and attendance concepts. You bring strong problem-solving skills, a collaborative mindset and a customer-focused approach to supporting critical business applications in a complex enterprise environment.
Reporting to the Application Services Manager (HR), you will have:
- Experience in configuring and maintaining Workday business processes across multiple functional areas
- Good understanding of Workday security, reporting and integration concepts
- Experience supporting or troubleshooting integrations between Workday and payroll systems such as Ascender Pay
- Familiarity with Kronos or similar time and attendance systems (Desirable)
- Ability to translate business needs into effective system solutions and improvements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to data integrity and process efficiency
- Experience working with HR, Payroll and IT teams to deliver system enhancements and resolve complex issues
- Clear communication and documentation skills, with a collaborative and service-oriented approach

- Working knowledge of Kronos or similar time and attendance systems (desirable)
