Essential Duties
- Manages and oversees the facilities, collections, and resources of the Beulah Culbertson Archives and Special Collections
Minimum Qualifications:
- Tenure-track candidates must have a Master’s degree in Library Science/Archival Science from an ALA-accredited program (or equivalent) OR a terminal degree in a related field
- Instructor-level candidates must already have a related master’s degree, with a terminal degree in progress. They will have an opportunity to become a tenure-track professor once the degree is complete, with years worked applied toward tenure.
- Coursework or a specialization in archival management
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, management, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 year of experience working in an academic archive or museum
- Experience with all aspects of archival operations, including acquisitions, collection development, processing, preservation, reference and instruction, and outreach
- Experience training, supervising, and evaluating professional staff and/or student employees
- Experience with best practices for management of born-digital records
- Experience developing vision, setting priorities, strategic planning, and managing change
- Experience with relevant standards for archival description and cataloging, including DACS, EAD, and MARC
- Experience with library services platforms, digital collection management systems, and/or preservation management systems, such as ArchivesSpace, Bepress Digital Commons, and Springshare LibApps
Job Description Summary
The W’s Fant Memorial Library invites applications for a open-track faculty appointment to lead the Beulah Culbertson Archives & Special Collections unit. As a part of a team committed to making the library a welcoming and accessible place for patrons and employees, this position develops, promotes, and implements innovative and inclusive services and resources for special collections and archives. This includes oversight of the Martha Jo Mims Digitization & Conservation Lab and Beulah Culbertson Archives and Special Collections.
As a faculty member, this position reports to the Dean of Library Services. The candidate is expected to build a comprehensive record of service, progressive scholarly contributions, and professional achievement to fulfill the University requirements for retention, tenure and promotion.
