Within IR&DS, the Assessment and Evaluation Team works with stakeholders across campus—including faculty, staff, and university leadership—to design research studies and collect data on topics central to the university’s educational mission. This position will form a two-person special projects team, working alongside a Senior Assessment and Evaluation Analyst to conduct high-priority institutional surveys and data analyses that provide university leadership with the information they need to make informed decisions on sensitive and consequential policy questions. This is a fixed-term appointment for a period of three years.
Position Summary:
This position reports to a Senior Assessment and Evaluation Analyst. We are looking for candidates with a strong foundation in survey research and quantitative data analysis, excellent written and oral communication skills and training or experience with qualitative and/or mixed methods research.
The Assessment and Evaluation Analyst will collect, monitor, and analyze information regarding academic policies, demographics, experiences, and institutional outcomes, yielding actionable information to guide decisions across the University. The analyst will be responsible for communicating research findings through written reports and preparing presentations to faculty, staff, and administrators, and will work under the direction of the Senior Assessment and Evaluation Analyst on both routine and complex assignments.
In this role, you will:
- Answer questions by developing survey research methodology, gathering data, and applying appropriate statistical techniques on available data.
- Drive collection of new data and the refinement and integration of existing data sources, with a focus on survey design and administration, to support institutional decision-making.
- Fully analyze the problem, question existing processes and assumptions, gather data and information, find and evaluate alternative solutions, and propose best course of action.
- Explore data from multiple angles, determine meaning behind the data, and recommend ways to apply the data.
- Communicate, convey, and visualize informed conclusions and recommendations across an organization’s leadership structure in a manner that “tells the story” behind the data and influences how the organization approaches the challenge.
- Support and contribute to written summaries and/or presentations on assigned research for senior leaders, faculty, and administrators, with opportunities to interact with a variety of university stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other organizations to gather data. Proactively seek and locate data, including outside benchmarks or comparative data, to support or refute proposed decisions.
- Contribute to project management of data collection efforts, working collaboratively with the Senior Assessment and Evaluation Analyst and other team members to meet project timelines and deliverables.
- Support of the University’s research mission by working with the Senior Assessment and Evaluation Analyst to facilitate a process through which University leadership ensures that research involving student participants and/or student data is conducted in a way that complies with federal and university policies and standards and minimizes risks to students and student privacy.
