Position description

THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA IRVINE SCHOOL OF LAW invites applications for the role of Assistant Adjunct Clinical Professor for a two-year position beginning in the summer of 2026.

We are searching for an Assistant Adjunct Clinical Professor to teach in our International Justice Clinic (IJC). The IJC works with international activists, NGOs and scholars to develop and implement strategies for the protection of human rights. Students pursue research, conduct on the ground fact finding, engage in coalition building and multi-stakeholder dialogue, and prepare policy documents and recommendations. The successful candidate will be appointed Assistant Adjunct Clinical Professor. Applicants should have at least 5-7 years of legal practice and/or teaching experience in the area of international human rights law. The position further requires particular expertise in several areas pertaining to the international human rights law governing privacy, freedom of expression, and digital security and surveillance and experience in litigation and reporting before international human rights treaty bodies (such as the Human Rights Committee) and other mechanisms of international human rights law (such as the UN Human Rights Council's Special Procedures). In addition, they must have demonstrated potential for excellence in clinical teaching. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a J.D. degree or equivalent from an accredited institution and be a member of a state bar.

Applicants should have at least 5-7 years of legal practice and/or teaching experience in the relevant practice area.

In addition, applicants must have demonstrated potential for excellence in clinical teaching.
