Position Highlights

The Department of Dermatology, in partnership with the University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) and UACC Skin Cancer Institute (SCI), invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor. We are particularly interested in clinician-scientists with research expertise in Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer. Successful applicants will contribute to the research, educational, and leadership activities in the Department of Dermatology, UACC, and SCI, with their primary academic and clinical home in Dermatology. We anticipate that the successful candidate will devote 75-80% of their time to academic/research responsibilities, and the remainder to clinical responsibilities. Individuals whose research advances the understanding of the roles of signaling pathways, immune responses, carcinogenesis, and pigmentation, as well as interactions between immune cells and the cutaneous microenvironment, are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants must have postdoctoral experience and hold an MD, MD/PhD, or DO degree, be board-certified in dermatology, and be eligible for licensure in the State of Arizona. The successful applicant is expected to secure extramural funding for their research program and participate in graduate student mentoring, as well as teaching to graduate and medical students. They are also expected to interact with other faculty on larger collaborative scientific projects.

The College of Medicine offers state-of-the-art programs in medical education, groundbreaking research opportunities, and leading-edge patient care, along with an active Medical Student Training Program. With 14 core faculty, and 9 residents, the Department of Dermatology is a comprehensive academic clinical department with established community partnerships in a wide variety of areas. Specifically, for skin cancer, there is a strong record of basic-translational/clinical research in melanoma and NMSC. The Dermatology Department is an integral component of the UACC Skin Cancer Institute (SCI) with a unique approach to address the high rate of skin cancer in the state of Arizona and beyond. Clinicians, scientists, epidemiologists, engineers, and pharmacists collaborate closely in a transdisciplinary manner, resulting in over 20 years of successful funding across multiple disciplines. Another feature that highlights the uniqueness of this program is the collaborative culture and supportive environment of the Department of Dermatology.
