Position Overview

The Department of Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, in partnership with the Division of Cardiology at UHN and SHS, invites applications for an academic cardiologist with expertise in Echocardiography.

The position emphasizes clinical excellence, research, and teaching within a high-volume echocardiography program, with >35,000 studies annually, covering a broad spectrum of adult cardiovascular disease. The successful candidate will enrich the educational and scholarly missions of the Echocardiography Program.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical care in advanced echocardiography, including:
    • Inpatient and outpatient transthoracic and stress imaging (treadmill, bike, pharmacologic)
    • Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE)
    • Advanced modalities: contrast, strain, 3D imaging, structural imaging
  • Contribute to education: teaching cardiology residents and Level 3 echocardiography fellows
  • Conduct academic research or educational initiatives in echocardiography
  • Support technical development, novel imaging approaches, and clinical research aligned with Peter Munk Cardiac Centre priorities, such as structural valve disease, heart function, cardio-oncology, adult congenital heart disease, and AI applications

Qualifications

  • MD degree or equivalent
  • Certification in Cardiology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent)
  • Licensure (or eligibility) with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
  • Completion of Level 3 echocardiography fellowship, with expertise in advanced modalities
  • Demonstrated academic productivity or potential in echocardiography (research or educational initiatives)
  • Proficiency in English (primary language of work)

Compensation

  • Fee-for-service clinical billings commensurate with qualifications and experience
  • Health benefit options according to institutional policy
  • Potential partial reimbursement for start-up costs (office expenses)
  • Expected salary range aligned with experienced academic cardiologists in Ontario
