Position Description

The Division of Medical Oncology and Hematology at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, University Health Network (UHN) and Sinai Health System (SHS) invites applications for multiple full-time Academic Medical Oncologist positions.

We seek energetic, collaborative, and innovative physicians specializing in Medical Oncology, with major clinical site focus in:

  • Thoracic Oncology
  • Sarcoma
  • Gynecologic (Gyne) Medical Oncology

Flexibility to include an additional minor tumor site may be considered.
Anticipated start date: March 1, 2026, or shortly thereafter.


Expectations & Responsibilities

Successful applicants will demonstrate excellence in:

Clinical Care

  • Provide high-quality patient care within multidisciplinary disease-site teams.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in clinical genomics, clinical trials, supportive care, and translational research.

Academic Contributions

  • Engage in research (clinical, translational, or basic science).
  • Teach at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Contribute to the academic mission of the University of Toronto.

Candidates will be appointed in one of three UofT academic tracks:

  • Clinician Investigator (CI)
  • Clinician Teacher (CT)
  • Clinician Quality & Innovation (CQI)

Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and Sinai Health are among the world’s top comprehensive cancer programs, featuring:

  • One of the largest early-phase clinical and translational research programs in gynecologic malignancies
  • Internationally recognized expertise in sarcoma and thoracic cancers
  • Access to state-of-the-art clinical and research infrastructure
  • Strong partnership with:
    • Princess Margaret Research Institute (Genomics, Immunology, Cancer Biology, Cell Therapeutics)
    • Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute (Sinai Health)

The institutions operate on a bench-to-bedside model, supporting rapid translation of discoveries into therapeutic innovation. A robust clinical trials and drug development ecosystem, including a GMP cell processing facility, further supports research excellence.


Required Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Hold an MD and FRCPC (or equivalent) in Medical Oncology
  • Be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
  • Demonstrate:
    • A strong record of clinical expertise
    • Collaborative teamwork
    • Academic productivity relevant to appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor

Evidence of Excellence

  • Clinician Teacher (CT): teaching innovation, curriculum development, teaching awards
  • Clinician Investigator (CI): peer-reviewed research funding, publications in leading journals, scientific contributions

Compensation

  • Highly competitive remuneration package, commensurate with experience and rank
  • Contractual arrangements aligned with the qualifications and academic track of the successful applicants
