Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field. Candidates for appointment at the Assistant Professor level must demonstrate a strong publication record and the potential to establish an independent, externally funded research program. Candidates applying at the Associate or Full Professor level must have a well-established, externally funded research program and a strong record of independent scholarship and scientific leadership. Salary and rank commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will also be expected to: 1) Collaborate with faculty within the department and across the university, particularly through the University of Houston Drug Discovery Institute (DDI); 2) Contribute to the university’s strategic research initiatives in cancer, dementia, and related diseases; and 3) Demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, including classroom teaching, research training, and mentoring. The Department of Biology and Biochemistry offers state-of-the-art laboratory space in the Science and Engineering Research Center (SERC), access to advanced core facilities, and extensive opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration across the university. Additional collaborative opportunities are available with nearby institutions in the Texas Medical Center, of which the University of Houston is a member.
