Assistant, Associate or Full Professor Clinical Practice UW Peds Cardiology, Non-Invasive Imaging

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington is seeking a non tenured faculty position as full time Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice, Associate Professor of Clinical Practice, or full Professor of Clinical Practice to join the Division of Cardiology as a member of the Non-Invasive Imaging Team.
General Expectations:
- Perform clinical work, teaching and scholarly activity in non-invasive imaging
- Perform a wide range of non-invasive cardiac imaging modalities, including, transthoracic, transesophageal, 3D-echo, strain, fetal and cross-sectional imaging
- Performance and interpretation of imaging and physiologic data in order to understand or diagnose complex cardiac congenital pathologies in neonates, children and adults
- Serves as an attending physician in the Echocardiography Laboratory at Seattle Children's Hospital. Timely completion of echocardiogram interpretation and reporting of results with appropriate communication to referring providers
- Participates in task forces and committees as requested by the applicable service line or Seattle Children’s Leadership
Clinical Care:
- Participates in outpatient, inpatient cardiology and consultation. Provides excellent clinical care and supports safe, efficient and high-quality service
- Ensures appropriate coordination and integration with other services in the care of patients
- Engages with consultants and other providers in a multi-disciplinary model of care
Planning:
- Works with administrative and clinical leaders to support quality and performance improvement to ensure that program goals are attained
- Participates in task forces and committees, as applicable to Service line or Seattle Children’s leadership
Regulatory:
- Supports timely review of any patient safety events
- Responds in a timely manner to physician or patient related feedback or complaints
- Supports legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements
- Participates regularly in physician variability documentation and IAC conferences to maintain lab accreditation
- Supports and participates in M&M program and identifies opportunities for improvement
- Provides input to continuing education activities designed to maintain and enhance competencies
- Timely and punctual billing and documentation. Regular conference attendance. Clear and collegial collaboration with peers, trainees, staff, patients and families
Research:
- Significant scholarship activities focused in non-invasive imaging
- Provide research and scholarly mentorship of faculty and trainees
- Identifies opportunities and actively participate in scientific investigations and collaborations
- Maintains academic productivity commensurate for rank and for the Clinician-Scholar track
Education:
- Supports cardiac clinical educational programs for sonographers, medical students, residents, fellows and nursing
- Provides advanced clinical and research training for non-invasive cardiac imaging fellow
- Participates and contributes to quality improvement projects and/or curriculum development
In addition to clinical work, teaching, scholarship, and service are integral to all Clinical Practice positions. The initial appointment period will be three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure.
All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.
Anticipated Start Date – Summer of 2026.
As the second largest Department in the UW School of Medicine, Pediatrics has twenty-one clinical divisions with approximately 1,400 academic appointments, including approximately 650 paid faculty members, 134 residents, 70 ACGME fellows, 230 staff employees and over 600 volunteer/affiliate faculty and continues to grow each year. The Department of Pediatrics is a close affiliate of Seattle Children's Hospital (SCH) and Seattle Children's Research Institute (SCRI). Faculty members appointed in the Department are located at various institutions (including Seattle Children’s, UW Medicine, and FHCRC), and are part of the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) clinical practice plan.
The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professor range: $17,865 - $26,797 per month ($214,380 - $321,564 annually), Associate Professor range: $21,445 - $32,169 per month ($257,340 - $386,028 annually), Professor range: $27,515 - $41,273 per month ($330,180 - $495,276 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations.
Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Children’s University Medical Group practice plan. Additional administrative responsibilities may be offered to a specific candidate with appropriate experience and qualifications which may result in an administrative supplement (ADS).

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
- MD/DO (or foreign equivalent)
- Board Certified/Eligible Pediatric Cardiology
- Must be licensed as a physician or eligible for licensure as a physician in Washington state.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
