The Department of Chemistry and Fermentation Sciences invites applications for two tenure-track nine-month faculty positions in chemistry with a start date of August 1, 2026. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Chemistry, or a related field. Candidates who are ABD will be considered, but the position requires completion of all degree requirements before the date of appointment.
The successful applicant will be required to establish a strong research and teaching portfolio within the field of chemistry. Candidates should highlight in their application materials how they can contribute to teaching in one or more of the following chemistry sub-disciplines: Biochemistry, Forensic Chemistry, Organic chemistry, Inorganic chemistry, and Analytical chemistry. Candidates who can contribute to teaching in Forensic Chemistry are especially welcome. The individual must demonstrate a dedication to excellence in teaching, a strong commitment to service and community engagement and preparedness for leading scholarly activities with undergraduate research students. Scholarly expectations include publishing peer reviewed articles and establishing an externally funded undergraduate research program. Candidates at all ranks will be considered.

Description of the Department or Unit
The Department of Chemistry and Fermentation Sciences offers a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with eight different concentrations: the American Chemical Society (ACS) Certified degree, Marketing and Business, Biochemistry, Environmental, Fermentation Sciences, Forensic Science, Individually Designed and Chemistry Secondary Education Licensure. The department also offers a BA degree in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Science degree in Fermentation Sciences. The department has 19 tenure-track faculty members, 19 non-tenure track faculty members, and approximately 350 undergraduate majors. Many of the Chemistry and Fermentation Sciences majors conduct research and disseminate their results at national, regional, and local professional meetings and in peer-reviewed publications. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Workload duties typically include teaching 3 courses in chemistry (lectures or labs) per semester, maintaining an active scholarship agenda, and participating in service to the Department/University. An active scholarship agenda includes mentoring undergraduate research students, securing external funding, and disseminating results at conferences and in peer-reviewed journals. Service to the Department/University includes holding office hours for students, and serving on committees in the Department of Chemistry and Fermentation Sciences and/or University committees.
