Assistant/Associate Professor Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Environmental Health Sciences
Job Summary
Reporting to the BEES Department Chair, the Assistant/Associate Professor requires maintaining an active methodological and interdisciplinary research program, engaging with multidisciplinary research teams, mentoring students, and teaching graduate and undergraduate courses involving quantitative sciences and upper-level MPH and DrPH courses in Biostatistics/Data Sciences. The potential for securing external funds is also a priority. For consideration of Associate Professor positions, a successful track record of securing external funds is required. In addition to teaching expectations, all JPHCOPH professors are expected to serve on dissertation committees in the college, provide service to the community, mentor students, serve on department, college, and university committees, engage in scholarship/creative activity leading to presentations at professional meetings and publications in peer-reviewed journals, and to be actively involved in professional associations and outreach activities. The position is a 10-month, tenure-track appointment.
Required Qualifications
- Earned PhD, DrPH, or ScD in Biostatistics, Data Science, or a closely related field, by August 1, 2026, with at least 18 graduate semester hours in quantitative research methodology and Biostatistics/Data Science.
- Proven record of or demonstrated potential for securing extramural research funding.
- Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.
- Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing a strong and growing research and scholarship agenda and the production of research/creative activities as appropriate to the discipline.
- To be considered for an Associate Professor position, applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of full-time college/university teaching experience at the assistant professor level, along with a strong record of research and service with publications and presentations in professional venues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postdoctoral experience involving quantitative research in one or more of the college's established research focus areas.
Proposed Salary
Commensurate with experience. This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
