Assistant/Associate Professor, Economics

The College of Business (CoB) at the University of New England (UNE) invites applications for a tenure-line Assistant or Associate Professor in Economics, beginning in August 2026. We are seeking candidates with a Ph.D. in economics or a closely related field (ABD considered), a strong record of teaching and research, and experience in applied economic engagement, including work in industry, policy analysis, public scholarship, community-based research, or with nonprofit and governmental organizations.

The successful candidate will be able to teach introductory and intermediate economic theory courses as well as the history of economic thought. They should bring expertise in their area of specialization and be able to integrate it into their teaching. Candidates who can incorporate the evolution of economic ideas-particularly in response to pressing social and economic challenges-throughout the curriculum will be well-suited for this role.

The College of Business prioritizes experiential learning, preparing students to apply their knowledge in practical settings. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to student engagement by creating dynamic, interactive learning experiences that foster critical inquiry, analytical thinking, and active participation. Experience creating or using Open Educational Resources and Open Access software is highly desirable and supports our commitment to zero-cost course materials.

This nine-month position offers a competitive salary, along with opportunities for summer teaching, interdisciplinary collaboration, and career advancement. The successful candidate will join a collegial, engaged faculty in a growing College of Business that is expanding its graduate, professional, and online offerings.

Responsibilities include teaching in undergraduate economics programs, maintaining an active research agenda, and contributing through service to the department, college, university, and professional organizations.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in economics or a closely related field is required by the time of appointment. Professional experience that enhances teaching and research is highly valued.
