The Department of Preventive Dental Science invites applications for a full-time tenure-track/tenured position at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank in the Division of Pediatric Dentistry, commencing July 1, 2026, or on a date mutually agreed upon. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The Department seeks an emerging or established scholar with a commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service. Qualified candidates at any rank will be considered with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below:

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR: Responsibilities will include undergraduate didactic and clinical teaching and supervision, involvement in service within the department, college and/or university and the community and/or profession, and participation in research and publication.

The successful applicant at the rank of Assistant Professor must have completed a university-based Pediatric Dentistry specialty training program with master’s-level credentials. Teaching experience is preferred both didactically and clinically in Pediatric Dentistry as well as a keen interest in research, and a willingness to be involved with teaching at the post-graduate level, will be required.

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR: At the rank of Associate Professor, experience in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level is required. Applicants will have masters-level research experience and mentorship and evidence of a successful dossier in research, including peer-reviewed publications and success in obtaining grant funding. A masters-level degree is required for Associate Professor and a PhD or similar would be a strong asset.

At the rank of Assistant and Associate Professor and dependant on Divisional needs, major responsibilities may include: didactic, pre-clinical and clinical Pediatric Dentistry teaching in the undergraduate programs (Dentistry, Dental Hygiene, and the International Dental Degree Program (IDDP)), the Pediatric Dentistry specialty graduate program, and the International Dental Specialist Fellowship Program for Pediatric Dentistry (when offered), research, and participation in community service programs in Pediatric Dentistry, clinical patient care and emergency services. Operating room services may also be required.

Applicants must be eligible to register for dental licensure as a Pediatric Dentistry Specialist with the Manitoba Dental Association (MDA) in the Province of Manitoba, Canada.

Preference will be given to candidates who have successfully completed the National Dental Specialty examinations (NDSE) of the National Dental Examining Board of Canada (NDEB) and / or are a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, or are Board Eligible in Canada by having graduated from a CDAC (Canada) or CODA (USA) accredited specialty program (36-month program length preferred). Candidates must satisfy the dental specialty privileges with the Manitoba Healthcare Providers Network in order to secure hospital privileges with Shared Health.

The successful applicant may be eligible to be appointed to the positions of Division Head of Pediatric Dentistry and/or Program Director of the Pediatric Dentistry Graduate Program.

Extramural practice privilege is available 1 day per week upon signing of a Private Practice Agreement.

As a requirement for employment in the Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry, all staff in a clinical setting are required to submit a criminal record check as well as the child abuse registry check at the time of hire.
