Primary Purpose of the Position :
The Department of Psychological Sciences in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education at Winston-Salem State University seeks to fill a nine-month, Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professor position with a start date of August 2026. Job responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses, serving as a faculty advisor, mentoring students inside and outside the classroom, engaging in scholarly activities that leads to publications in peer-reviewed journals within the discipline area or within peer-reviewed journals that promote the teaching and learning of the discipline, facilitating presentations at well-respected professional conferences, and engaging in the procurement of extramural funds with interdisciplinary teams.
We invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Applied Psychology. We are particularly interested in candidates with a doctoral degree in Psychology (e.g., Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, and School or Educational Psychology) who can apply psychological principles and research methods to solve real-world problems. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate psychology courses, develop and maintain a productive research program that incorporates and supports student researchers, seek extramural funding, and publish and present their work in discipline-specific journals and at conferences. Preferred Years Experience,Skills, Training , Education :
We desire candidates who illustrate evidence of situating students in and mentoring them through undergraduate research experiences or who have experience engaging students in HIPs such as study abroad, internship opportunities, or community service learning where they must leverage their content knowledge to benefit the larger community.
- Candidates with a background in clinical or counseling psychology, applied developmental psychology, or applied social psychology are preferred.
- Candidates with an applied research area who engage in community work and advocacy are preferred.
- Candidates should demonstrate an ability to teach writing and research methodology courses.
- Candidates also should be committed to their professional development and demonstrate tenacity toward obtaining external funding to enhance the department's research, teaching, and service goals.
