Central Connecticut State University invites applications to join the Department of Computer Electronics and Graphics Technology as a full-time, tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor of Computer Engineering and Technology. About the Computer Electronics and Graphics Technology (CEGT) Department
Housed primarily in the new Applied Innovation Hub, the CEGT Department in the School of Engineering, Science, and Technology offers innovative, interdisciplinary programs. It is the unique Connecticut home to undergraduate and graduate programs in computer engineering technology, electronics, cybersecurity, and networking, supported by cutting-edge labs that draw statewide enrollment. The department's commitment to collaboration is exemplified by its co-development of the Cybersecurity and Computer Information Technology programs with the Computer Science Department. An additional Graphic Technology program and its facilities are in Nicolaus Copernicus Hall.
The department currently has seven full-time faculty with expertise in computer, electronics/electrical, cybersecurity, networking, Information technology, and digital printing, collectively supporting about 300 active students. Programs in the department are accredited by ABET (Computer Engineering Technology) and ATMAE (Electronics Technology, Networking Information Technology, and Graphics Technology). The BS Cybersecurity program is one of the few in the nation with the expertise and curriculum to provide NSA validated Programs of Study in both Cyber Defense and Cyber Operations.
Position Profile
Responsibilities of this tenure-track position include teaching with regular teaching load of 12 hours per semester, research in computer & electronics engineering and technology, service to the department and the university, and professional scholarship activities. This appointment will also contribute to student advising, curriculum and laboratory development; student-faculty research, capstone projects supervision, program assessment and accreditation activities, and working with colleges and universities in the region.
Applicant Evaluative Criteria
Applicant profiles and supplementary materials will be evaluated for appointment based on the following:
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline by date of appointment from a regionally accredited institution or international equivalent. ABD candidates with a clear plan for completion by August 2026 are also encouraged to apply.
- Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics Engineering.
- Evidence of active and continuous research in the Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics Engineering discipline (e.g., publications and presentations at professional conferences, peer-reviewed journal articles).
- Demonstrated skills and strong commitment to technical laboratory and experimental teaching, participation in hands-on research projects and application-oriented activities.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills.
Additional requirements for consideration at the rank of Associate Professor:
- At least 5-year full-time university teaching experience in the Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics Engineering discipline at the rank of Assistant Professor.
- Leadership experience in ABET or other equivalent national/international accreditation(s).
- A proven track record of external funding for applied research projects involving undergraduate or graduate students.
Ideal Candidate
Preference will be given to applicants with the following:
- Two or more years of university teaching experience.
- Two or more years of relevant full-time industrial experience or R&D experience in an industrial/government lab.
- Documented experience in one or more of these technical areas
- Edge AI, Embedded systems, AIoT, or cyber-physical systems.
- Electronic design/manufacturing, programmable logic, or electric machines.
- Industry adaptive intelligence, wireless, cellular, and satellite communications.

Compensation and Employee Benefits
In accordance with the Connecticut State University American Association of University Professors (AAUP) Collective Bargaining Union Contract, compensation for this position is at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor for 2024-2025.
