ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE AND POLICY AND BIOLOGY

Franklin Pierce University’s College of Health and Natural Sciences on the Rindge, NH campus, seeks applicants for a nine month full-time, permanent faculty position, a joint appointment in the Departments of Biology and Environment Science and Policy, beginning August 2026. We seek a broadly-trained applied ecologist with expertise in aquatic biology (freshwater or marine), wetland science, or related fields who uses biotechnological techniques (including environmental DNA, genomic sequencing, biosensors or similar), or environmental sensing and/or remote sensing/GIS techniques to understand and address human impacts on aquatic systems. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses that align with the candidate’s area of expertise, maintaining scholarly productivity, and supporting the Biology, Biotechnology and Environmental Science and Policy programs, as appropriate. Job responsibilities include: Teach 12 credits per semester (Fall and Spring) at the undergraduate level in introductory environmental science and conservation, and areas that may include marine biology, coastal ecology, limnology, water resources, or wetland ecology; courses that emphasize lab and field techniques and technologies; as well as in their specific areas of expertise; establish an independent and productive research program including undergraduates; mentor and advise undergraduate students; and contribute through service to the department, college, university, and professional communities.

Required Qualifications:

Ph. D in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology or similar field (earned doctorate by the time of appointment). Demonstrated teaching effectiveness at the college level and a strong commitment to undergraduate education, research and advising.
