Assistant/Associate Professor Plastic Surgery SMS-3639
This is a faculty position with direct responsibilities to the Chief of the Institute for Plastic Surgery. The budgeted annual salary range for this position is $275,000 to $302,500. The final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. Additional incentive compensation may also be available for clinical work performed beyond the standard scope of responsibilities.
I. Administrative 15%
- Provide coordination of the Institute for Plastic Surgery activities with the emergency services.
- Provide a point of contact between Division and outside agencies.
- Aid in the supervision of ancillary personnel within the Division.
- Aid in the supervision of ancillary personnel in the research laboratory.
II. Teaching 35%
- Participate in the development and implementation of specific undergraduate curricula in plastic surgery, trauma surgery, burn, maxillofacial trauma, and hand care.
- Participate directly in the plastic surgery residency training program.
- Establish continuing education programs in plastic surgery, facial reconstruction both traumatic and aesthetic care for the clinical faculty and practicing physicians in the area.
- Provide a role model as a teacher in plastic surgery.
III. Research 10%
- Encourage members in the Division of Plastic Surgery and its residents, as well as members and residents in other divisions to do research and publish the results, particularly in the field of trauma, facial fracture, reconstruction.
- Provide a role model as an investigator and medical writer.
- Establish clinical research protocols, both laboratory and clinical, for plastic and reconstructive surgery.
IV. Service 40%
- Represent the division in departmental, school, university and community matters.
- Assist in the development of programs for care of the trauma patient.
- Maintain a plastic surgery practice in order to maintain clinical proficiency, with a special interest in facial trauma and esthetics.
- Provide a role model as a practitioner for faculty, house staff, students and fellow practitioners.
- Provide a peer review for assessing clinical practice for faculty within the Division.
- Attend national meetings, symposiums, etc., in plastic surgery or related fields for the purpose of contributing, gaining of further knowledge and serving as an example to other physicians.
- Present papers at plastic surgery meetings and meetings in other related fields.
- Serve on committees on national, regional and state societies pertaining to plastic surgery.
- Represent the Department of Surgery and/or the Division of Plastic Surgery on committees as requested by the Chairman of the Department of Surgery or the Chairman of the Division of Plastic Surgery.
Qualifications:
- Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.
- Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Plastic Surgery.
- MD licensure.
- Successful completion of a Plastic Surgery residency.
- Able to be licensed in the State of Illinois.
