Job Description
The Assistant Athletic Director for Development & Special Events will be an exceptional relationship builder and communicator who is able to help support revenue generation and fan engagement for SMSU Athletics. The position provides support and oversight of the annual giving program (Mustang Club), advisory council management, fan engagement, ticket sales, special events, stewardship, and fulfillment. The position plays a key role in connecting with alumni, donors, and fans to generate revenue through donations, special events, and ticket sales. Additionally, the position plays an important role in elevating the visibility of SMSU Athletics within the community and region.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Sports Management or related field plus two years of professional experience in related field. Related fields could include sport management, fundraising, marketing, game and/or event operations, athletic administration, ticket sales/advertising, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to generate revenue.
- Demonstrated ability to develop key relationships with stakeholders.
- History of progressive responsibility.
- Possess computer skills for word processing, database, and spreadsheets.
- Experience utilizing a fundraising database or like system.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience and knowledge in Intercollegiate Athletics to understand the areas of fundraising marketing plan development, fundraising, game management, and special events marketing, promotion and planning.
- Have knowledge and understanding of NCAA, NSIC and Minnesota State System policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated abilities to supervise and manage staff.
- Have effective verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Experience leading large scale events.
- Ticket sales experience.
- Master’s degree in related field.
