Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The athletic program at Appalachian State University operates on the premise that intercollegiate athletics is an integral part of the institution's overall program of education. This position will represent the Senior Director of Athletics Compliance in various capacities.
The Assistant Athletics Director - Compliance reports directly to the Senior Director of Athletics Compliance and assists in the oversight of compliance of NCAA rules to ensure the eligibility of players and educates coaches and staff to prevent violations. Commitment to and compliance with the University's and Department of Athletics policies and procedures as well as the conference and NCAA constitutions, bylaws, legislation and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
- (50%) Serve as primary liaison to a specific set of sports and subdivisions of the Athletics Department as assigned by the Senior Director of Athletics Compliance. Such liaison responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide NCAA, Sun Belt (or applicable) Conference, and App State legislative interpretations and rules education.
- Monitor team personnel, playing and practice season, awards, and recruiting activities.
- Assist with investigating and self-reporting NCAA rules violations.
- Draft legislative waivers as needed.
- (20%) Under the supervision of the senior compliance administrator, serve as the primary facilitator of App State's Name, Image, and Likeness compliance initiatives (e.g. rules education, disclosure, policy development).
- (10%) Serve as the primary facilitator of App State's Agent Registration program.
- (10%) Assist in the development and maintenance of the Athletic Compliance website and social media efforts.
- (5%) Participate in the design and substance of the University's Athletic Compliance program.
- (5%) Any other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Athletics Compliance.

Suggested Salary Range: $70,000 (Commensurate with experience)
