Assistant Coach, Men's and Women's Swim Teams
Job Description Summary
The part-time Assistant Coach for Swimming and Diving is responsible for assisting the Director of Aquatics/Head Swim Coach in implementing and directing all phases of a competitive NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving program at Bentley University.
Essential Duties
- Assist the Head Coach with planning, organizing, and conducting daily training sessions for NCAA Division II student-athletes.
- Lead practices and specialty training groups as assigned.
- Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who can contribute academically and athletically to the Bentley Swimming & Diving program.
- Maintain regular communication with prospective student-athletes and families through phone calls, email, text messaging, and recruiting databases.
- Assist with recruiting visits, admissions coordination, and other recruiting-related administrative responsibilities.
- Support program operations including travel preparation, meet management, roster management, equipment inventory, and other administrative duties as assigned.
- Monitor student-athlete welfare, academic progress, and adherence to Bentley University, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
- Adhere to all conference and NCAA rules and requirements relevant to the conduct of the intercollegiate program.
Other Duties
- Run specialty practices when assigned by the Head Coach.
- Assist with recruiting outreach and relationship building with prospective student-athletes.
- Assist with administrative projects that support the day-to-day operation of the swimming and diving program.
- Perform additional coaching and administrative duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- 1+ years of coaching experience and/or participation in the sport itself at the varsity level.
- Intercollegiate experience and participation in the sport at the varsity level preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of innovative and proven coaching strategies and techniques.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and commitment to maintaining a positive team environment.
- Commitment to student-athlete welfare and NCAA compliance.
- Proven ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and limited overnight travel.
- Must hold and maintain a valid, unrestricted United States driver’s license, with an insurable driving history as determined by Bentley’s insurance carrier.
