Assistant Coach - Men's Heavyweight Rowing
Position Purpose
To participate as part of a decision-making team (coaching staff) under the direction of the head coach in planning, coaching, recruiting, administering, and promoting the Men’s Heavyweight Rowing program within EARC, Ivy League and NCAA and institutional standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3-5 year’s experience playing and/or coaching rowing at the high school or collegiate level.
- Strong knowledge of rowing skills and strategies.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people in a diverse community.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to recruit effectively with no athletic grants and highly selective admissions standards.
- Strong commitment to a diverse working environment and to serving the needs of a large and diverse community.
Key Accountabilities
Coaching and Mentoring (50%)
Contributes to planning and implementing the conditioning, training, and coaching programs for the heavyweight rowing team. Assists head coach in conducting team practices, training, conditioning, and competitions.
Recruiting (35%)
Assists head coach in developing and implementing an overall recruiting plan.
Administration (10%)
Knows and complies with the rules and regulations of the EARC, Ivy League and NCAA.
Other (5%)
Assists head coach in promoting Dartmouth and the rowing program through camps, clinics, and community involvement.
