Job Summary:

Nature of Work

Analyzes performance and instructs student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. Recruit student athletes. Observes players while they perform to determine need for individual or team improvement. Coach players individually or in groups, demonstrating techniques.

Examples of work performed

• Assist with coaching for the Women's Basketball program
• Provide basketball instruction and development for student athletes.
• Knowledge of and compliance with all rules and changes that occur in the sport of basketball including NCAA rules and regulations
• Assist with camps, games and tournaments organization and supervision
• Assist with recruiting for the Women's Basketball program
• Coordinate Chadron State College campus visits for athletes
• Knowledge of, and compliance with, NCAA rules and regulations concerning recruiting and eligibility
• Coordinate team laundry

Secondary Duties:

• Check study halls and classes for athletes' participation
• Assist with game operations for all home volleyball games
• Assist with athletic team and department fundraising initiatives
• Related duties as assigned by supervisor

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree plus coaching experience.
• Must have knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations

Physical Demands

The physical requirements for this position may include, but are not necessarily limited to, the ability to use a computer, calculator, telephone, keyboard, and/or various types of office equipment. Must be able to effectively communicate in verbal and written formats and satisfactorily perform the functions of this position. Some lifting of equipment may be required.

License and Certification Requirements

• Successful background records and credit check
• Valid driver's license
• Satisfactory evaluation of driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience coaching basketball
