Assistant Cross Country Coach

Chatham University welcomes applications for the position of Assistant Cross Country Coach in our Athletics department.

The Assistant Cross Country Coach at Chatham University supports the head coach in the planning and execution of all aspects of the cross country program. The individual in this role will be responsible for assisting with daily practices, meet preparation and execution, and the holistic development of student-athletes, both on and off the course. This is a part-time position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Attend and assist with daily practices and scheduled meets.
• Provide sport-specific skill instruction, motivation, and support to student-athletes during practices and competitions.
• Support the development and implementation of meet plans, including logistics and strategy.
• Assist in meet day execution, including management, on-site coaching, and post-meet evaluation.
• Participate actively in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes in coordination with the head coach and the Office of Admissions.
• Attend local and regional high school and club meets to identify and engage potential recruits.
• Demonstrate a genuine commitment to the social, emotional, academic, and athletic development of student-athletes.
• Model leadership, integrity, and professionalism in all interactions with scholar-athletes, staff, and the broader community.

Qualifications:

• Previous cross country running and/or coaching experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends, including meet travel.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background check.
