Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Assistant Dean for Title IX and Equal Opportunity (AD) serves as the designated Title IX Coordinator for the College. The AD has primary responsibility for ensuring the college is in compliance with all state and Federal laws and regulations pertaining to Title IX, and the Massachusetts State University System's Equal Opportunity, Diversity, and Affirmative Action Plan.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Vice President of Student Affairs

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: While not a direct supervisor, the AD facilitates an annual process to fill deputy roles. The AD is empowered to select, train, and compensate existing employees who express an interest and appropriate skill set to fulfill additional responsibilities in the areas of investigators and advisors.

DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Title IX and Equal Opportunity
  • Serve as the lead administrator for the development, implementation, and monitoring of Title IX compliance efforts across all College programs and activities for all members of the campus community.
  • Review and respond to reports, and formal and informal complaints.
  • Coordinate investigative processes and the provision of supportive measures for impacted parties in a fair and impartial manner.
  • Review and recommend updates to College policies and procedures related to Title IX to ensure compliance with federal regulations and alignment with higher education practices.
  • Serve as a member of the Massachusetts State University System Title IX working group.
  • Collect, maintain, and analyze data, as appropriate to contribute to annual reporting requirements.
  • Maintain confidential records in accordance with College policies.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver comprehensive, ongoing educational programs and training to the entire College community regarding Title IX, sexual harassment prevention, reporting obligations, resources, and grievance procedures.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with certifications, laws, policies, and procedures.
Behavioral Intervention Team
  • Chair and coordinate the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT). Under the guidance of the VPSA and in cooperation with the Dean of Students and Chief of Police and Executive Director for Public Safety, the AD chairs BIT and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations for behavioral intervention and threat assessment teams on college campuses.
  • Maintains oversight of case management and records for BIT.
  • Maintains up to date procedures, ensuring members are trained annually and on an ongoing basis, and have access to resources.
  • Approves formal recommendations to the VPSA on behalf of the team
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging
  • Assist in improving the effectiveness of complaint processing and response protocols to ensure individual needs are being met while systemic issues and/or barriers are identified and addressed.
  • Coordinate with campus partners to develop and enhance training, education, and awareness programs pertinent to Title IX and Equal Opportunity, bias, discrimination, and sexual misconduct.
  • Collaborate with campus partners in support of coordination of accommodations for impacted parties.

Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Three to five years of relevant experience required.
  • Working knowledge of Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, the Clery Act, VAWA, FERPA, affirmative action, the Americans with Disabilities Act, or other applicable federal and state civil rights and employment laws, regulations, and court decisions.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and high emotional intelligence with the ability to establish rapport with a diverse range of MCLA community members.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate a significant caseload.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, organize, and present information in person and on virtual platforms.
  • Ability to organize, index, and track records to further compliance with regulatory timelines/deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree or other advanced degree from an accredited institution.
  • Six to ten years of related experience.
  • Experience working in a higher education or legal environment
  • Demonstrated experience with policies and procedures for responding to allegations of discrimination, harassment, and sexual or gender-based misconduct
  • Demonstrated knowledge of investigatory procedures related to student and/or employee conduct, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation in a higher education setting.
  • Proficiency with Maxient or other case management software
  • Evidence of current compliance licensure and training from reputable organization such as ATIXA, NaBITA, etc.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, permanent, benefitted position. Salary for this position is $85,000-$100,000/year. Position starts on 7/01/2026.
