SCC is seeking an Assistant Dean Industrial Trades who will provide leadership and coordination of the administrative and operational aspects of academic programs in collaboration with the Executive Director/Academic Dean and work closely with the Academic Dean and other senior staff to ensure quality academic programs and services supporting college expectations, core values and mission.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborates with leadership in developing, implementing, and reviewing academic programs and curricula.
- Oversees course scheduling, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and compliance with academic accreditation standards, guidelines, policies and regulatory standards. Assists in maintaining academic records, course evaluations, student assessments, and program data outcomes.
- Provides leadership for academic programs within an area of study/studies including budget management, coordination of program activities, evaluating program effectiveness, and recruiting, advising, and monitoring student success.
- Collaborates with department colleagues and disciplines to determine relevant pathways for students seeking degrees in the discipline by coordinating course review, course syllabi and materials, course objectives, design and recommend new courses, credit for prior learning outcomes, transfer credit evaluation, articulation agreements, and program accreditation.
- Works in partnership with college departments in facilitating recruitment and non-credit offerings.
- Actively engages in the evaluation and recommendation of improvements of learning spaces (studio, performance, laboratory) and equipment assessment to maintain quality instruction for students.
- Assists with the development and application of skill growth activities and techniques of various strategies in the applicable discipline(s) to support student success.
- Formulates and develops program plans, goals, and objectives, including staffing, facilities, curriculum, and educational philosophy; assures consistency of plans with the mission of St. Charles Community College.
- Provides guidance and support to students on academic academic-related issues, serving as a resource for resolving conflict and promoting student success.
- Assists in the preparation of the college catalog, class schedules, college website and other public information for assigned programs.
- Demonstrated commitment to leading and supporting academic programs through quality and excellence.
- Develops and maintains effective relationships and communication with students, faculty, and staff in a diverse environment.
- Ability to network and expand educational partnerships and collaborate with business and industry professionals.
- Formulates and leads departmental and discipline meetings, including participation in Advisory Boards.
- Maintains accurate student and other records required by higher education standards, state, and federal regulations, and the Board of Trustees.
- In consultation with subject matter experts, will recruit, hire, train, and mentor new instructional staff and will provide continuous assistance and guidance to part time and contract instructors, which includes classroom evaluations.
- Coordinates completion of new hire and payroll documents and serves as a first point of contact for division employees.
- Strong communication skills are required to effectively interact with individuals from a variety of multi-cultural backgrounds.
- Serves as a college ambassador and values teamwork, accountability, and demonstrates professionalism and provides excellent customer service.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Master's degree in supporting discipline studies or related field.
- Five years' experience in higher education.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Generally, reports to the Executive Director/Academic Dean; but may vary upon organizational need.
