Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree and three years of professional experience, preferably in higher education or private sector recruiting; or equivalent combination of training and experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters Degree in a related field
- Strong computer skills including managing databases, platforms, and software packages
- Experience working with career services management platforms such as Handshake, customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, or related technical software
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Director for Employer Relations serves as a member of the Career Development Center Employer Relations Team, advancing its mission by developing and executing employer outreach, recruitment, and relationship management strategies that produce high-quality full-time and internship opportunities for App State students.
- Plans and executes all CDC anchor events under the supervision of the Associate Director, including career fairs, conferences, and other engagements with a focus on high-quality engagement between employers and students for the purpose of networking, exercising career readiness competencies, and connecting to jobs and internships.
- Support employer engagement with the CDC by identifying new employer contacts, recruiting employers as potential internship and employment sites, securing employer involvement in programming and events, and supporting employers in the partnership programs.
- Connect employers with Boone and Hickory campus stakeholders to engage students in the recruiting and hiring process through targeted programming.
- Compile, assess, and report data on employer relations and development activities and events.
- Coordinate site visits including campus, local, and regional employers to maintain/develop new relations, promote Career Development Center programs and services with emphasis on internships, job development, on-campus recruiting, and utilizing Handshake.
- Serve as a consultant to employers to expand their talent pipelines and provide employers with engagement opportunities that foster mentoring and networking with students.
- Serve as an active collaborator and contributing member of the Marketing Team by supporting strategic communication efforts, content development, and promotional initiatives that enhance student participation and employer engagement opportunities.
- Train and supervise Employer Relations student assistants.
Work Schedule/Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Evenings, early mornings, and weekends in preparation for campus-wide career events (approximately 8-10 instances a year).
