Type: Full-time, 12-month, exempt position with benefits

Salary: $72,000-$76,000

Location: Atherton, CA – In-person position with travel involved

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Assistant Director of Admissions supports the development and execution of Menlo College’s undergraduate recruitment strategy by managing assigned territories, representing the College at recruitment events, building relationships with high school counselors, community colleges, and community organizations, and providing personalized guidance to prospective students and families throughout the admissions process. The Assistant Director develops and maintains recruitment partnerships, contributes to communication and yield efforts, participates in application review, supports on- and off-campus events, collaborates with campus partners to ensure consistent messaging, and maintains accurate records in the CRM to support data-informed decision-making and overall enrollment goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Territory Management & Recruitment (45%)

  • Develop and implement a strategic, data-informed recruitment plan for assigned territories.
  • Represent Menlo College at high school visits, college fairs, community college events, and virtual programs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with high school counselors, community college personnel, and community organizations.
  • Provide timely, personalized outreach to prospective students and families through phone, email, text, and in-person meetings.
  • Assist with on-campus recruitment events, including campus tours, info sessions, visit programs, and admitted student events.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service throughout the admissions process.

Application Review & Yield (25%)

  • Review and evaluate undergraduate applications using holistic review practices.
  • Participate in committee discussions and make recommendations for admission.
  • Support yield and conversion initiatives, including personalized outreach to admitted students and families.
  • Collaborate with Financial Aid, Student Affairs, Student Success, and Academic Affairs to support yield and onboarding initiatives.

Partnership Development & Communication (20%)

  • Cultivate and sustain partnerships with high schools, community colleges, community-based organizations, and nonprofits.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for educational partners, coordinating communication, programming, and engagement activities.
  • Support the implementation of communication plans developed by the Director of Admissions and Marketing & Communications.
  • Assist with targeted outreach campaigns to students, families, and counselors.
  • Provide feedback to leadership on messaging gaps and opportunities.
  • Engage with prospective students using CRM-driven outreach and nurture campaigns.

Data, Reporting & Operations (10%)

  • Maintain accurate student interaction records and status updates in Salesforce.
  • Use data to monitor territory performance and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Assist with routine administrative tasks to support smooth admissions operations.
  • Support front desk operations when needed to ensure a welcoming visitor experience.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and public speaking skills for student-facing outreach.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level of customer service orientation.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with diverse students, families, counselors, and community partners.
  • Ability to represent Menlo College and clearly communicate the value proposition of the Menlo experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret and clearly explain admissions requirements, academic programs, scholarships, and financial aid basics.
  • Comfortable with high-volume outreach including calling, texting, and email communication.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and basic data tools.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience using CRM systems (Salesforce, Slate, TargetX, Element451, or similar).
  • Experience planning or supporting recruitment events and campus programs.
  • Familiarity with using funnel data, reports, or territory analytics to inform outreach.
  • Experience working with diverse, first-generation, transfer, or underrepresented student populations.
  • Knowledge of regional and national admissions organizations (e.g., NACAC, WACAC, College Board).
  • Experience in higher education, student services, college advising, or related fields.
