Assistant Director of Career and Internship Advising
The Assistant Director for Career & Internship Advising is responsible for the implementation and oversight of opportunities outside of the classroom to help undergraduates and graduate students explore careers through internships, projects and other experientially focused opportunities. Serves as a liaison to academic departments, internship facilitators/supervisors, external site supervisors, and alumni to form relationships and collaborations to expand experiential learning opportunities for students. Seek to expand access to experiential learning to affect change in the perception of the value of internships and exploration at the undergraduate and graduate level.
The position serves on the Center for Career & Experiential Learning, which collaborates to help students develop and implement their educational and career plans and provides professional development support.
Priority will be given to applications received by November 21, 2025; however, we will continue to review applications on a rolling basis until the position is filled
Essential Functions:
1. Project Management (30%):
- Develop and launch a non-credit internship and experiential learning program to contribute to the institutional goal of 100% students completing an internship and/or other experiential learning activities;
- Manage and administer programs enabling undergraduate and graduate students to complete both credit-based and non-credit based experiential learning opportunities and explore career interests across all programs at Curry College;
- Cultivate internships, projects and other hands-on career readiness activities ranging in duration of time to be offered to aid students in career exploration in support of the Curry Commitment;
- Collaborates with the Associate Director of Employer Engagement for outreach to employers related to experiential opportunities with the goal of fostering existing and cultivating new relationships that help broaden the scope of career exploration and work opportunities for students. Travels to conduct site visits in advance of and during student experiences;
- In alignment with the goals of the Curry Commitment, assesses opportunities for career readiness including program evaluation and assessment of learning outcomes, reporting, identification of career- related materials and resources and development of expertise specific to the assigned area;
- Advocates for student needs in relation to internships such as education, training, equity of access, recruiting trends and timelines.
2. External Relationship Building (30%):
- Develops partnerships and collaborations with CXL staff, related faculty, School/Department administrators, staff, and employers on a regular basis to increase opportunities for experiential learning for all students;
- Maintains and fosters relationships with existing Curry internship programs, sharing information on trends, and gathering participant data to assess the state of experiential learning to guide work in curating more opportunities to meet the institution's strategic goals;
- Collaborate with the Associate Director of Employer Engagement and the Institutional Advancement team to engage alumni in participating in career offerings by way of programs, events and hosting interns.
3. Career Advising (30%):
- Provides a comprehensive range of career development services, including, but not limited to career advising, outreach, workshops, seminars and walk-in advising services, and employment preparation;
- Maintains educational content online, plans programming, and identifies career-related materials and resources specific to the assigned area;
- Administers and interprets individual interest, skills, abilities, and values assessment instruments and self-assessment materials.
4. General Responsibilities (10%):
- Collaborates with the Career & Experiential Learning team in the delivery of overall career services across all career services programs;
- Serves on institutional committees and work groups which support CXL and student success goals. Engages in professional development and community activities to enhance the reputation of the department;
- Contribute to an inclusive work environment;
- Performs related duties as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishment of the responsibilities and functions of their area of responsibility;
- Respects and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy.
Additional Functions:
- Performs other duties as assigned by their supervisor or designee.
- May also supervise a student worker, intern or seasonal temporary help on projects or programs.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Three years of experience in recruiting, career office setting or human resources, relevant to employment recruiting and training.
- Experience representing a college or university in large-scale programs and with employer partners, students, faculty, and alumni.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively with diverse student populations, faculty, and employer partners.
- Understanding of current workforce trends, employer expectations, and NACE Career Readiness Competencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree preferred with an emphasis in student affairs, career counseling, human resources, or related field is preferred.
- Proficiency or strong familiarity with career services and learning management systems such as Handshake, Canvas, and Qualtrics; ability to use data tools to track engagement and outcomes.
- Supervision experience.
Salary Range:
$70,000 to $75,000.
