The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking an Assistant Director of Equipment Operations in the Athletics Department. Under limited supervision by the Director of Athletic Equipment, this role must have the ability to work independently to effectively provide direction and oversight to assigned areas of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Apparel & Equipment Management: Coordinates the identification, acquisition, fitting, and proper maintenance of footwear, apparel, and equipment for assigned Olympic sports.
- Inventory & Procurement: Supervises the purchasing, inventory tracking, and distribution of all equipment and apparel; maintains meticulous records of all transactions and inventory levels.
- Laundry Operations: Manages daily laundering operations for athletic apparel. Schedules and supervises the laundry program, and maintains laundry facilities, equipment, and chemical inventories.
- Student Manager Supervision: Directs, schedules, and assigns student managers to meet athletic equipment needs; assists in developing and implementing a comprehensive student-manager training program.
- Daily & Game-Day Operations: Provides hands-on support for daily practice setups, home game-day operations, and special athletic events.
- Travel & Logistics: Coordinates team travel logistics, including the transportation, distribution, and security of equipment on the road.
- Recruiting & Brand Support: Assists with recruiting presentations and visits; ensures strict adherence to branding, licensing, and apparel compliance guidelines.
- Vendor Relations: Maintains positive working relationships with athletic vendors to streamline equipment procurement.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree and equivalent professional experience in NCAA Division I equipment operations.
- Technical Skills: Basic proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office applications.
- Leadership & Management: Proven ability to structure, direct, and evaluate the work of others, including coaching and developing student managers.
- Operational Skills: Strong time-management capabilities with a demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Teamwork & Problem Solving: Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on promoting teamwork and swiftly resolving operational issues.
- Schedule Flexibility: A strong passion for collegiate sports and the ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
