Assistant Director of Housing and Data

The Department of Residential Experience and Housing at the SUNY Oneonta invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of Housing and Data. The Assistant Director reports directly to the Director of Residence Life and Housing and functions under a flexible work schedule that may include weekend and evening hours. Residence Life and Housing fosters an inclusive environment for growth and learning; provides high quality facilities, services, and programs; and supports student academic success and retention. Our goals are to build a residential program that fosters a spirit of engagement and community among students, staff, and faculty; to foster a sense of belonging to the residential community by student engagement and leadership in governance; to promote student academic success.

The Office of On Campus Housing and Residence Life is under the Residential Experience and Housing Department, which also houses offices of Move-In, Orientation and Welcome; as well as the Office of Off Campus and Commuter Students. Our office works closely with many other areas of The University through committee work, collaboration, and resource sharing. We have residence hall special interest housing in areas of Wilderness, Wellness, Gaming, Quiet Study, Transfer Living, First Year Experience and LGBTQIA+.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Supervision of 4-6 Residence Hall Directors
  • Oversight of the occupancy program for 3000 bed campus
  • Design and execution of new and returning housing application and assignment processes
  • Management of room changes
  • Administration of residential damage billing process
  • Assistance with furniture procurement and renovation planning
  • Maintenance and administration of the housing database StarRez
  • Assistance with card access system
  • Design and distribution of weekly reports for the department, division, and university stakeholders
  • Assistance in compiling and analyzing historic and current occupancy data to inform occupancy projections
  • Serves as department liaison with Student Accounts and Dining Services as it relates to student bills
  • Participation in on call duty rotation
  • Assistance with emergency/crisis management for the department
  • Chairing department committees

Salary: $56,000-$58,000 commensurate with experience. SUNY Oneonta is a Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) qualifying employer. Information on SUNY's comprehensive benefits offerings can be found at https://www.suny.edu/benefits.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Two (2) years full time experience in residence life/housing
  • Two (2) years or more experience supervising, evaluating, and selecting staff
  • Experience managing building occupancy
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with emergencies or crisis response (duty rotation)

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Higher Education Administration or related field
  • Experience with StarRez or similar occupancy database systems
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative on projects
  • Experience working with and serving diverse populations
