Assistant Director of Housing Occupancy Management
PURPOSE
The Assistant Director of Housing Occupancy Management is responsible for leading the strategic and operational management of housing assignments, occupancy planning, and system administration for University Housing. This role oversees the housing lifecycle from application through assignment, ensuring optimal occupancy, revenue performance, and a seamless student experience. The position works collaboratively with Residence Life, Maintenance, Dining, and Enrollment Management to align housing operations with institutional goals.
DESCRIPTION
Functional Area 1: Administrative (60%)
- Coordinate/Facilitate all aspects of housing assignments including initial placements, waitlists and room changes.
- Lead development and execution of occupancy strategies to achieve full utilization of housing inventory.
- Monitor application trends and provide recommendations to optimize occupancy.
- Communicate with students, families, and staff regarding housing assignments and provide information on housing options and availability.
- Process housing applications, maintain accurate records, and ensure data confidentiality.
- Manage room change requests, cancellations, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Manage residency requirement exemption process.
Functional Area 2: Housing System Administration (15%)
- Serve as the primary administrator for StarRez.
- Configure application workflows, assignment processes, and reporting tools.
- Ensure system configurations align with operational goals and assignment strategies
- Oversee data integrity, reporting accuracy, and system functionality
- Partner with IT and vendors on system enhancements and troubleshooting
Functional Area 3: Collaboration (15%)
- Work with Housing leadership to coordinate move-in and move-out, ensuring a smooth transition for residents.
- Work collaboratively with the Housing Operations and Residence Life team to ensure that all housing assignments are done in a timely and effective manner.
- Work collaboratively with Campus Partners ensuring placements for Living Learning Communities (LLC's).
- Partner with Residence Life to align occupancy strategies with student experience goals.
- Collaborate with Admissions and Enrollment Management on projections and recruitment efforts.
- Work with Maintenance and Operations to ensure space readiness and availability.
Functional Area 4: Customer Service (10%)
- Respond to student and family inquiries regarding housing assignments and processes.
- Assist students with housing selection, room changes, and assignment concerns.
- Provide clear communication regarding timelines, eligibility, and processes.
