Colby Community College is seeking an energetic, student-focused leader to join our team as the Assistant Director of Student and Residential Life. This is a dynamic role designed for someone who thrives on building community, mentoring student leaders, and ensuring a vibrant, safe campus environment.
As we expand with a brand-new fourth residence hall opening in 2027, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of student life at CCC.
The Opportunity
You will assist in the leadership and coordination of student housing operations, residence hall management, and student life programming. This position supervises student staff, supports daily housing operations, and ensures compliance while creating engaging campus events.
Total Compensation and Benefits
We offer a comprehensive package designed to support your professional and personal well-being:
Salary: $36,000 per year (Full-time, Exempt).
On-Campus Housing: A semi-furnished unit (includes stove, fridge, and internet).
Meal Plan: On-campus dining included.
Relocation Assistance: Up to $2,000 in eligible moving expenses.
Insurance: Comprehensive health, dental, and vision plans.
Retirement: Participation in the State of Kansas KPERS retirement system.
Campus Life & Expectations
Growth: You will help manage our current capacity of 306 students across three dorms, plus our 80-bed facility opening in 2027.
Availability: To provide high-quality support to our students, evening and weekend hours are required for on-site assistance and campus activities.
Environment: CCC is an alcohol-free campus. Pets are permitted only when approved as a reasonable accommodation under applicable law.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist in managing housing assignments, occupancy reports, room inspections, and maintenance coordination
- Support the supervision, training, and evaluation of residence life staff, including resident assistants
- Enforce housing policies and assist in maintaining a safe, positive residential community
- Provide on-call coverage for emergencies, crises, and behavioral incidents in the residence halls
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate student activities, leadership development programs, and campus engagement
- Assist with student organization advising and promote involvement in campus clubs and events
- Assist with the administration of student conduct processes, including communication, documentation, and follow-up
- Educate students on College policies, behavioral expectations, and personal responsibility
- Serve on committees and contribute to College-wide initiatives related to student engagement and retention
Qualifications
- Associate degree required
- Experience working with and around a student population is required.
- Experience in college housing, residential property management, working and planning student activities is highly preferred.
