The University of Rijeka, Faculty of Economics and Business, announces
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS 16/2026
For the selection of one employee for the associate position of Assistant in the scientific field of Social Sciences (scientific branch: Economics), for a fixed-term, full-time appointment.
Applicants must meet the requirements stipulated by the Act on Higher Education and Scientific Activity (Official Gazette No. 119/22).
Employment requirements:
- completed graduate university study programme or integrated undergraduate and graduate university study programme in Economics/Business Economics,
- candidate ranked among the most successful students,
- excellent command of the English language.
Additional qualifications providing an advantage:
- developed organizational, communication, analytical, IT, and teamwork skills, writing skills, as well as conscientiousness and a responsible attitude towards work.
The personally signed application must be accompanied by:
- curriculum vitae (CV),
- proof of completed graduate university study programme or integrated undergraduate and graduate university study programme in Economics/Business Economics (candidates who obtained their qualification abroad must submit a reasoned opinion from the competent agency regarding the foreign educational qualification),
- proof of Croatian citizenship (copy of identity card, passport, or certificate of citizenship) or citizenship of another country; foreign nationals are required to submit proof of Croatian language proficiency (level B2) according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages,
- proof that the applicant is among the top-performing students,
- transcript of records from the university graduate study programme, or from the university undergraduate and graduate study programmes / integrated study programme,
- proof of English language proficiency (certificate, attestation, copy of a certificate/diploma indicating that an English language exam was passed, or similar).
Applications and proof of meeting the criteria must be submitted electronically. Persons of both genders are eligible to apply under equal conditions. Prior to making a decision, the Faculty reserves the right to assess the knowledge and skills of candidates who have submitted a timely and complete application and meet the formal requirements of the call for applications, by means of testing and/or an interview. Candidates will be notified in due time regarding the scheduling of such testing and/or interviews. Failure by a candidate to appear for the assessment will be deemed a withdrawal of their application. The Faculty reserves the right not to select any candidate. By applying to the call for applications, candidates expressly consent to the University of Rijeka, Faculty of Economics—acting as the personal data controller—collecting, using, and further processing their data for the purpose of conducting the selection process. This processing shall be carried out in accordance with European and national regulations and internal acts regarding personal data protection, ensuring proper handling of such data by all persons granted lawful access thereto; this entails using the data exclusively for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not conflict with the candidates' interests.
The deadline for submitting applications is 30 (thirty) days from the date of the call’s publication in the Official Gazette (Narodne novine).

Late or incomplete applications, as well as those failing to meet the call's requirements, will not be considered.
