The Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University announces an open competition for the position:
ASSISTANT

We are looking for a colleague to join the Department of Mongolian, Korean and Vietnamese Studies with focus on Mongolian and Inner Asian Studies.
MAIN JOB CONTENT
- Pedagogical: Participating in lecturing or other forms of teaching in Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programme and lifelong learning programmes, specifically, participation in theoretical and practical language teaching.
- Research: Participation in the investigation of grant projects, specifically: assistance with research and publication activities in the project “Changing Adaptive Strategies of Mobile Pastoralists in Mongolia: Dynamics in Community Histories and Movement Patterns Documented Through Oral Sources" (Junior Star project GM23-07108M, GAČR), especially professional processing, editing, translations and analysis of written historical sources and recordings from field research; in connection with this activity, active participation in domestic and foreign conferences and professional meetings and presentation of research results; Participation in the organizational provision of research activity.
- Other: Participation in ensuring operational and administrative activities related to the academic position according to the instructions of the department head, e.g.: routine administrative tasks in the administration of own courses, use of e-learning and communication with students via the MU Information System.
WE REQUEST
Professional education, qualifications and experience: Master's degree in the field of Inner/Central Asian philology, religious studies or a related field – a condition; professional focus on the cultural, political or religious history of the Mongolian cultural region – a condition; experience in the field of philology, literature and/or history of Inner Asia countries for at least 1 year – a condition; active ties with academic institutions in Mongolia – a condition.
Language skills: knowledge of colloquial Mongolian (at least at the level corresponding to C1 CEFR) – a condition; active knowledge of classical Mongolian script and classical Mongolian language – a condition; excellent knowledge of at least one another Inner/Central Asian language relevant to the planned activity (Tibetan, Kazakh, Tuvan …) – a condition; knowledge of English (in case English is not the native language, evidenced by a diploma, or own published text and verification during the interview) – a condition.
Requirements related to job content: presentation, organizational and didactic skills; ability to carry out scientific research; diligence, responsibility, reliability; ability to independently conduct archival research, independently study historical written sources from the region of Inner Asia in the original languages; research ties to Western Mongolia – an advantage; independent academic research in the Czech Republic and willingness to reside in the Czech Republic for the duration of the employment.
