Position Summary
The Athletics department at University of North Carolina Asheville is an integral part of the University committed to providing an exemplary NCAA Division I Athletics Program that creates an environment where student-athletes have high-impact learning experiences while pursuing academic, athletic and lifelong goals, and engages the University’s internal and external constituents and communities. The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at UNC Asheville will assist the Head Coach in leading a competitive NCAA Division I Basketball program that aligns with the athletic department strategic plan. The ideal candidate will exhibit character traits of integrity, servant-leadership, work ethic, creativity, and respect for others and passion for their work in college athletics. This position is responsible for assisting the head coach in the management and administration of all phases of an intercollegiate sports program in a manner that upholds the philosophy and objectives of the Department of Athletics and the University. The employee in this position will serve as the Head Coach in the absence of the Head Men’s Basketball Coach.
Required Education/Experience/Skills
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 4–7 years of collegiate coaching.
- Proven ability to develop and motivate NCAA Division I student-athletes for academic and athletic success.
- Previous collegiate coaching experience.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience as a Division I student-athlete.
