Description
Gustavus Adolphus College, an NCAA Division III institution, and a member of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) is seeking applications for a Men's and Women's Assistant Swimming and Diving Coach.
Employment Status: Full-Time (.83 FTE), Exempt (Salaried), Benefits Eligible
Salary Range: $36,000-$40,000 annually
The successful candidate must possess a proven ability to coach swimmers, as well as recruit the best possible student-athletes. The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: assist in coaching, recruiting, scouting, practice preparation among other administrative roles within the program. Gustavus, a strong liberal arts college, competes in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as an NCAA Division III member. This person will report directly as an assistant to the Head Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Coach.
Coaching Duties
- Plan and implement event specific training appropriate to each athlete.
- Support and promote the team expectations and vision of the team.
- Demonstrate leadership, sportsmanship and professionalism.
- Effectively communicate and work cooperatively with our coaching staff and athletic department.
- Assist with individual and group student visit events and visit days.
- Be a liaison between Admissions and coaching staff for recruiting prospective student-athletes.
- Knowledge of, and be compliant with, all Division III, MIAC, and Gustavus Adolphus College policies and regulations as well as eligibility requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate academic performance of student-athletes.
- Additional administrative and other duties as assigned.
Prerequisites
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent coaching experience, preferred.
- Collegiate swimming experience or coaching experience at the college, high school or club level, preferred.
