Assistant or Associate Lecturer - School Coexistence

Call for Applications: Lecture Position in School Coexistence, School of Psychology – UC Chile. Special Academic Track, 33 hours. Ascription to the Department of Psychology with academic research and teaching work shared with the Special Education Pedagogy Program. Undergraduate and graduate teaching in educational psychology and school coexistence. The Department of Psychology of the UC Chile has opened a competition for a 33 hours per week position for an assistant or associate lecturer in educational psychology with academic work shared with the Special Education Pedagogy Program. As a lecturer position, the primary focus is on teaching. The Special Education Pedagogy Program was established in 2023 as an interfaculty initiative, involving both the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Social Sciences, through the Department of Psychology. We are looking for applicants to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Psychology and the Special Education Pedagogy Program, with a specific emphasis on school coexistence. Candidates may be psychologists or educators, preferably those specializing in special education, and should hold a master’s or doctoral degree in educational psychology, special education, psychopedagogy, disability studies, or related fields. The selected individual must have experience in university teaching as well as professional experience in educational psychology and/or special and inclusive education. The chosen candidate will become a member of the teaching teams in the Department of Psychology and the Special Education Pedagogy Program. The candidate is expected to allocate their working hours as follows: 75% for teaching, 10% for academic management and/or community outreach, and 15% for research. Participation in research is optional and can be reallocated to teaching or academic management/community outreach as needed. The individual selected for this position will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the Psychology and Special Education programs. These courses may include Basic Psychological Processes, Developmental Psychology I, School Coexistence and Social-Emotional Learning; Design and Evaluation of Educational Programs; Educational Psychology Intervention Workshop; and Research in Educational Psychology. Some of these courses are joint classes for both psychology and special education students, while others are specifically designed for psychology students or for master’s level courses in educational psychology. Depending on the background of the person selected, categorization as an assistant or associate lecturer will be determined. The Department of Psychology at the UC Chile has announced three competition opportunities: one for a tenure-track full-time position (focused on measurement in educational or developmental psychology), another for a tenure-track full-time position (focused on Developmental Psychology, Special and Inclusive Education) and the current competition. All these positions are related to academic activities within the Department of Psychology and the Special Education Pedagogy Program. Interested candidates who meet the requirements may apply to more than one of these competitions simultaneously by submitting separate applications for each. Equal opportunity employer. The UC Chile is committed to equal opportunities, to build an inclusive, diverse, and fraternal community, and to promote the academic development of women and men. Qualifications: Candidates are expected to be fluent in Spanish and English. The selection process will assess previous teaching experience, proactivity, leadership, interdisciplinary teamwork skills, and previous collaborative work. Specifically, teaching experience in courses and subjects related to the aforementioned areas will be highly regarded. Demonstrable experience in the following areas will also be appreciated: teaching methodologies that promote active learning; teaching in connection with the environment (Learning + Service methodology or similar approaches); and any awards or recognitions for university teaching. These qualifications will be assessed considering the candidate's academic career stage. Furthermore, experience in research and publications will also be taken into account. Availability: Start date January 2026.
