Assistant or Associate Professor and NSERC Tier 2 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Ecohydrology
The University of Guelph invites applications for a tenure-track NSERC Tier 2 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Ecohydrology. Nominees for Tier 2 Chair positions must be emerging scholars, at a minimum assistant or associate professors, or possess the necessary qualifications. Tier 2 Chairs are tenable for five years and renewable once, for exceptional emerging scholars who have been active researchers for fewer than 10 years at the time of nomination.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Hydrology, Ecosystem Science, or a related discipline and have the potential to achieve international recognition in ecohydrology and lead in their field. To meet CRCP criteria, candidates must be excellent emerging world-class researchers with demonstrated research creativity, potential for international recognition, ability to attract and retain trainees, and propose an original research program.
The position requires developing a strong research program with federal and provincial funding, mentoring students, teaching ecohydrology courses at undergraduate and graduate levels, and collaborating with colleagues in SES, the Ontario Agricultural College, and external partners. Faculty are expected to provide service to the University, scientific community, and society.
SES is a multidisciplinary unit with researchers in fields like soil science and environmental toxicology, with links across the University and external organizations. The University is located in Guelph, ON, on traditional Indigenous lands.
The University commits to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) and supports the CRC program’s EDI goals. Salary is negotiable, with the Chair receiving $100,000 annually plus a $20,000 stipend. Review of applications begins September 25, 2025.
