Assistant or Associate Professor, Criminal Justice - Tenure Track
The Department of Behavioral Sciences at Fitchburg State University welcomes applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in our Criminal Justice program, specializing in law and legal studies. Applicants should demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching, able and willing to teach from both theoretical and applied perspectives to a diverse student body. Responsibilities include a teaching load of four courses per semester, student advising, continuing scholarship and service to the University community.
Duties and Responsibilities: Teaching a range of criminal justice courses, with a significant focus on law-related courses, totaling 24 semester hours of credit per school year. Teaching courses within the undergraduate Police Program concentration that require faculty certification by the Municipal Police Training Committee of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (the MPTC). Participating in curriculum review and development, program reviews and student outcomes assessment.
Requirements: A Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology or other relevant doctoral degree is required. Experience teaching law and/or legal studies, and/or experience in the practice of law is preferred. Commitment to excellence in teaching and ability to work with a diverse student body.
