The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta is seeking applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in robotics and artificial intelligence (AI).
Applications are invited from candidates with expertise in areas including robot learning, intelligent control and estimation for robotic systems, autonomous robot decision-making, real-time embedded systems, robot vision, and robot perception. Ideal domains: robot reinforcement learning, robot autonomy, human-centric robotics, assistive robotics, etc.
Responsibilities
- Teaching (40%): Classroom teaching, student supervision, advising. Licensure as Professional Engineer required within 5 years.
- Research (40%): Conduct research, seek funding, disseminate results.
- Service (20%): Departmental, faculty, university governance; public outreach.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
- Research communication experience (publications).
- Eligibility for P.Eng. licensure in Alberta (obtain within 5 years).
- Ability to teach engineering curriculum.
- Excellent communication skills.
