Assistant or Associate Professor of Psychology (Forensic Psychology)

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Social Sciences at Claflin University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Psychology with expertise in Forensic Psychology. Our department houses one of the largest undergraduate majors on campus. Our ideal candidate is interested in contributing to the social justice mission and excellence of our department through their teaching, research, and service. We are seeking candidates who understand the barriers facing students belonging to marginalized groups and who have demonstrated experience with students from diverse backgrounds, equitable and inclusive teaching practices and social justice with respect to mentoring, research, life experiences, or service.
The successful candidates will:
- Teach undergraduate courses across the psychology curriculum, including introductory, research methods/statistics, and advanced courses in their area of expertise. Teach undergraduate courses in psychology that are part of the general education curriculum, including elective offerings aligned with the candidate's expertise. Mentor psychology majors. Engage in an active program of research and scholarship, with opportunities for student collaboration. Seek external funding to support research and program development. Contribute to departmental growth, including efforts toward the development of graduate programs in psychology. Provide service to the department, university, and profession. Opportunities for online teaching and interdisciplinary collaboration are available.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- PhD in Psychology or related fields (such as neuroscience, behavioral science, or forensic science (ABD considered, with expected completion by August 2026). Evidence of excellence in teaching at the college/university level. Strong record (or potential) of scholarly productivity. Commitment to student-centered learning, mentoring, and community engagement. Experience with teaching and retention of varied student populations. Knowledge about using AI and or modern technologies in psychology. Experience with innovative and engaging teaching strategies that will focus on the needs of 21 century students
SALARY AND RANK:
Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
