Assistant or Associate Professor (WOT) - Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (Pulmonary Hypertension)
Position Description
The University of Washington (UW) is recruiting for a full-time Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (without tenure due to funding) in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, Department of Medicine. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW's Faculty Code Section 24-34. Patient care efforts will occur primarily within the Pulmonary Hypertension Care Center at the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC), Montlake and Northwest campuses. Clinical work will be primarily outpatient and will occur within the Pulmonary Hypertension Center at UWMC. The clinical work will focus on the outpatient management (diagnosis and treatment) of patients with Pulmonary Hypertension who are often with high medical acuity and complex pulmonary pathophysiology along with related systemic comorbidities. Treatment of Pulmonary Hypertension often involves complex medical decision-making including synthesis of data from cardiac catheterization and behavioral issues that impact adherence to treatment regimens. The successful candidate will engage in teaching, scholarship, or service which is considered integral to this position. Teaching responsibilities will include clinical bedside teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows.
Assistant professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
Associate professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
The anticipated start date of this position is January 2026 or later.
University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.
The base salary range for this position at the assistant professor rank will be $18,000-$22,000 per month ($216,000-$264,000 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. The base salary range for this position at the associate professor rank will be $23,000-$28,000 per month ($276,000-$336,000 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
These ranges are inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a medical degree (MD/DO) or foreign equivalent. Applicants must be board certified or eligible (or foreign equivalent) in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Applicants must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
