Assistant Professor (9 months)
Job Details
Responsibilities:
- Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in the School of Communication (two courses per semester.)
- Conduct research in the areas of Science, Health, Environmental, or Risk Communication.
- Mentoring undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students.
- Engage in service to the department (committees and doctoral student supervision), the university, and the profession.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Communication or related field
Other Special Skills or Requirements:
Expertise in mixed-methods or quantitative methods-in the areas of Science, Health, Environmental, or Risk Communication.
Ideal candidates must be innovative and forward-thinking with a demonstration of excellence in teaching and a commitment to mentoring students.
Successful candidates must have an established research program, including high impact publications and potential to pursue extramural funding, in the areas of Science, Health, Environmental, and/or Risk Communication.
Successful candidates should be committed to interdisciplinary research, teaching, service, and public outreach. They should have a strong commitment to mentoring undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students.
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in any of the following areas: qualitative research methods, persuasion, campaigns, social marketing, risk/crisis communication, environmental communication, and/or political communication.
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
